Visiting Manavgat Waterfall in Antalya
When we visited the Antalya region of Turkey, one of the day trips we did was to the ancient city of Perge. It was a guided tour which also included a visit to the coastal town of Side and the Manavgat waterfalls. The waterfall was not originally on our itinerary but it turned out to be a good addition.
Manavgat waterfall is not very high but wide and beautiful. The rushing water and the green surroundings makes it a calm and refreshing place to spend an hour or so. If you are visiting on your own, you can spend as long as you feel but with a guided tour, your time is set by the tour operator.
When we visited, it wasn't busy and it was drizzling and that added to the charm.
Where is Manavgat Waterfall and How to Get There?
The waterfall is located about 80 kms from Antalya and around 5 kms from the town of Manavgat. If you are staying in resorts around Antalya, such as Grand Park Lara, you can book a day trip or drive there yourself. Most guided tours to Perge/Side include a visit to the waterfalls.
By car: The drive from Antalya takes just over an hour. The roads are good and signs point the way.
By bus: From Antalya or Side, you can take a bus to Manavgat town. From there, local taxis or minibuses (dolmuş) can take you directly to the waterfall.
Best Time to Visit Manavgat Waterfall
Spring and autumn are the best times to visit the waterfall. The weather is cooler, and the flow of the river is strong. Summer is fine too, but it can be very hot and crowded as well. Winter has fewer visitors, but the water levels are usually high after rain.
Morning or late afternoon is better if you want to avoid the busiest hours.
Opening Hours and Entrance Fee
The waterfall is open daily. In summer, it usually opens from 8 am to 8 pm and in winter, it closes a bit earlier. There is a small entrance fee. You need to pay in cash at the gate.
