Tree Top Challenge at Go Ape, Cockfosters

Last weekend we visited Trent Country Park in North London. Spread over 320 hectares, the country park is the largest park in Enfield. It houses a number of memorials, has two ornamental lakes & two water towers, an equestrian centre, a golf club, a hockey club, a wildlife rescue centre, children's playground and extensive grounds for walking & cycling. But the reason for our visit was to try out the Go Ape adventure which is also located within the park grounds

We had a Red Letter Days experience voucher which we used to book the 'Tree Top Challenge' at Go Ape. The booking process was pretty straightforward. We redeemed the voucher on the Red Letter Days website and with the details provided we booked the experience directly on the Go Ape website. Go Ape adventures are available in 34 beautiful locations across the UK from Southampton to Whinlatter to even one in Aberdeenshire (Go Ape's most northerly location). We chose Cockfosters as it was the nearest to us.

Go Ape Adventures at Cockfosters

Go Ape's course at Cockfosters is said to be one of their most challenging courses in London. It has their longest and fastest zip wire in the capital and is also the highest course in the South East. The course starts low and gradually builds up taking you higher and higher into the trees.

This was our first Go Ape experience and we were looking forward to it. After a quick safety briefing by the staff where they explained about the harness and the clips and the safety precautions to follow, we made our way to the first course.

The first course was easy but then it got progressively challenging testing both our physical strength as well as our nerves. The courses included ladders, zip wires, Tarzan Swings and various kinds of tree-to-tree crossings (tightropes, beams, wobbly log bridges and even wooden barrels suspended in the canopy). While we were harnessed at all times and there was no risk of falling, I have to admit some of the crossings were slightly unnerving. But we thoroughly enjoyed the adventure and had a brilliant time. The adrenaline-pumping adventure experience is great for beginners as well as for experienced outdoor enthusiasts. We have no hesitation in recommending it.
