Renting a holiday apartment in London with FG Properties

Earlier this month, we made a quick work+leisure weekend trip to London. And we had the chance to stay in a fully serviced apartment managed and let by FG Properties. We had stayed in one of FG Properties' flats earlier and had found it to be a nice experience. The flat was well located and furnished with all the necessary amenities and the service had been good. We were hoping for a similar experience this time around and it was as expected - a well kitted out flat and efficient and friendly service.

FG Properties have a wide selection of holiday rentals in London and Paris. Their apartments cater to solo travellers as well as family groups. You just need to reach out to them with your requirements and preferences and they will do their best. FG Properties work in partnership with City Relay who take care of the customer service before, during and after the stay.

Booking and Checking-in

You can book your apartment of choice through FG Properties' website. It is a very simple and straightforward process. Once our booking had been processed we received a confirmation email from City Relay with all the information we needed. The email also included a short survey which enables City Relay to help guests plan their trip better. Based on your survey responses, City Relay provides tips on great places to eat and drink and also suggestions for sightseeing.

The check-in was very easy. One of City Relay's team members was waiting for us at the apartment. They gave us a quick tour of the flat and let us know that they were only a phone call away should we needed any assistance during our stay.

Based on both our experiences with them, I can say without any hesitation that the team at FG Properties and City Relay are a professional and responsive unit who are always available for their guests.

The Apartment

We had picked the Harrowby Street Lodge, a 2-bedroom flat located a few minutes’ walk from Edgware Road and Marble Arch tube stations. The flat is located in an ideal location within easy reach of several of London's top attractions.

The flat was on the second floor of the building (with no lift, we were aware of this) and was equipped with all modern amenities you would expect. The lower floor included a spacious living room with a comfortable sofa (that could be converted into a bed), a widescreen TV and a dining area (with a dining table for 4 people). The kitchen was modern, clean and had a microwave, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine and all kinds of utensils you would need for a holiday. I really liked the kitchen!

The bedrooms and bathroom were on the top floor. The master bedroom was comfortable (comfy bed and pillows) and had ample storage space. The second bedroom was more compact. The bathroom was modern, well-ventilated and had a combined shower and bath. Fresh linen and toiletries were also provided.

Overall, the flat felt like a home away from home. It was clean, comfortable, had all the necessary amenities and offered the comforts of a hotel with the privacy of a home.

We did have a small issue with adjusting the heating. But upon bringing it to City Relay's notice, they arranged for a technician to look at it. A couple of lights were not working (might have burnt out) but it was not a deal breaker as all the rooms had multiple lights.

On a final note, we loved our stay in this apartment. If you are looking to rent a holiday apartment in London, we would not hesitate in recommending FG Properties. If you are travelling to London in a group, this kind of apartment rental works out as a good accommodation deal (the Harrowby Street Lodge was £90/night) compared to a hotel stay.

As I already mentioned at the beginning of the article, FG Properties have apartments both in London and Paris. You can browse through the entire selection of properties on their website.

  8. Even though I already live in London, this would be great for a change of scenery and some 'me' time.

  9. We regularly visit London in the summer holidays, often taking the girls for between 5-7 days. We have always stayed in hotels (which can be extremely expensive) and had never realised there were apartments we could rent instead! I will definitely be looking into this option!

    1. Yes, Hayley. Renting an apartment works out cheaper in most cases; it also offers you more flexibility and privacy.
