Practical Poland travel tips
Open any section for a quick planning tip.
When to visit
Late spring and early autumn are good times for sightseeing, with mild weather and fewer crowds. Summers can be warm and busy, while winters are cold and may bring snow.
Getting around
Poland has a useful rail network connecting cities such as Kraków, Warsaw, Gdańsk and Wrocław. Local trams and buses make it easy to explore larger cities.
Driving in Poland
Traffic drives on the right. Some motorways have tolls, and parking restrictions apply in many city centres. Check the latest road and toll information before travelling.
Money and language
Poland uses the Polish złoty. Cards are widely accepted, but carrying some cash can be useful. Polish is the main language, though English is common in popular visitor areas.
