XIV Century Rooms, Kaštela Review - A Comfortable Stay Near Split Airport
XIV Century Rooms was the last place we stayed during our week in Croatia. If you are planning a similar trip, this stay fits well into a wider Croatia travel itinerary, especially as a final stop before flying home.
We chose it for one simple reason. It is very close to Split Airport.
After travelling around the country, we returned our rental car and checked in on Saturday evening. We checked out early on Sunday morning and headed straight to the airport for our flight back to Birmingham. For this purpose, the location worked perfectly.
Why We Chose XIV Century Rooms
Earlier in the trip, we stayed in Split and explored the city properly. That part of the trip is covered in more detail in our Hotel Ambassador review and our post on exploring Split city.
By the time we reached Kaštela, we were not looking to sightsee anymore. We wanted an easy and calm final night. Somewhere close to the airport. XIV Century Rooms suited that need well.
Location of XIV Century Rooms in Kaštela
XIV Century Rooms is located in Kaštela, in a traditional limestone building close to the seafront. The area feels quiet and local.
Kaštela sits well between Split and Trogir. Earlier in the trip, we had already visited Klis Fortress and Trogir, both of which are easy to reach from this part of the coast.
Split Airport is around 4 km away. You can reach the rooms easily by taxi, Uber, or the airport bus, line 37. This makes it ideal for early flights or late arrivals.
The seaside promenade between Kaštel Novi and Kaštel Stari is just a short walk away. There are restaurants, cafes, and small shops nearby, which is nice even for a short stay.
Arrival and Check-In Experience
We arrived on Saturday evening after returning our rental car. Check-in was smooth and well organised.
The property offers an easy self check-in option. If staff are not onsite, keys are collected from a key safe on the balcony of Konoba Dominik, which is in the same building. The instructions were sent clearly in advance and were easy to follow.
Between 17:30 and 23:00, someone is usually onsite at the restaurant and available to help. That made the arrival feel relaxed.
Our Room at XIV Century Rooms
We stayed in Comfort Room number 8, located on the fourth floor. This is the top floor of the building.
We knew before booking that there is no lift. We were travelling light, so this was fine for us. If you have heavy luggage, keep this in mind while booking.
The room had one double bed and one single bed. It was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The bathroom was modern and tidy. For a onenight airport stay, it was exactly what we needed.
Facilities and Comfort
The room had air conditioning, which worked well. There was an LG Smart TV and reliable WiFi.
A kettle with tea and coffee was provided. Simple, but useful after a long day of travel.
We slept well during our stay. Even though the building is near the promenade, the room was quiet at night. The thick stone walls helped keep noise out, which is important before an early flight.
I loved the views from the room as well. See below.
Dining at Konoba Dominik
XIV Century Rooms is connected to Konoba Dominik, a traditional Dalmatian restaurant in the same building.
The restaurant is well rated and open every day except Monday. It is very convenient, especially if you arrive late and do not want to head back out again.
How This Stay Fit Into Our Croatia Trip
Earlier in the week, we explored Split, visited Klis Fortress, spent time in Trogir, and also made trips to Krka National Park and Plitvice National Park.
XIV Century Rooms was not part of the sightseeing phase of our trip. It was a practical and comfortable final stop. As part of a longer Croatia itinerary, it worked well as a calm place to end the journey.
Who This Stay Is Best For
This place is ideal if you need a hotel close to Split Airport. It works well for onenight stays, early flights, or late arrivals.
It suits couples or small groups travelling light. It may not suit those with heavy luggage or anyone who needs a lift.
Things to Know Before Booking
There is no lift, and rooms are accessed by stairs. We stayed on the fourth floor and were fine, but it is important to be aware of this.
Entry to the building is via the balcony door, not through the restaurant entrance outside its working hours. The instructions are clear, but worth reading properly before arrival.
Is XIV Century Rooms Worth It for an Airport Stay?
Yes. For an airport stay, it did exactly what we needed.
It saved time, reduced stress and gave us a comfortable night before flying home.
XIV Century Rooms in Kaštela is a solid choice if you are looking for a place close to Split Airport. It is clean, calm, and easy to access.
As the final hotel of our Croatia trip, it worked very well. We would stay here again for the same reason.
