‘Walking with The Snowman’ | Festive Sculpture Trail at London Bridge City
'Christmas by the River' has returned to London Bridge City. The annual Christmas market overlooking some of London's most popular icons including the Tower of London, the Tower Bridge and the City Hall features chalet-style stalls selling everything from stocking fillers to unusual handmade gifts and from delicious food to hot cider.
And this year, there is an interesting addition to the market - the ‘Walking with The Snowman’ trail in collaboration with Wild in Art. Featuring twelve massive Snowman sculptures, each with beautiful designs and decorations, the trail is family-friendly and is sure to be a big hit with locals and visitors alike. The twelve sculptures relate to ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ song and have been beautifully decorated by twelve professional artists.
I enjoy sculpture trails mainly because of the hard work that goes into creating each piece and the uniqueness of each sculpture. And since we happened to be in London right after the trail was opened to the public, we made our way to London Bridge City to explore the trail. The trail begins near London Bridge and makes its way through the Christmas market ending near Tower Bridge.
The sculptures were really lovely and unique and I loved them all. Take a look!
1. A Partridge in a Pear Tree by Jodie Silverman, a Manchester-based art therapist and figurative artist.
2. Two Turtle Doves by Megan Heather Evans, a Birmingham based tattooist and artist.
3. Three French Hens by LeiMai Lemaow, an artist and designer from Liverpool.
4. Four Calling Birds by Jenny Leonard, a London based artist who specialises in creating murals.
5. Five Gold Rings by Adam Pekr, a Czech-born airbrush artist.
6. Six Geese a-Laying by Matilda Elizabeth, an artist and writer from the Peak District.
7. Seven Swans a-Swimming by Laura-Kate Chapman
8. Eight Maids a-Milking by Donna Newman, mural artist from Birmingham.
9. Nine Ladies Dancing by Lizzie Rose Chapman, a designer from Manchester.
10. Ten Lords a-Leaping by Hammo, a mural painter and an illustrator from Manchester.
11. Eleven Pipers Piping by Jess Loveday, artist and graphic designer from Manchester.
12. Twelve Drummers Drumming by Jessica Perrin, an illustrator and designer based in Birmingham.
