Isle of Wight Pearl

Another coffee stop during a day trip in the Isle of Wight was at the Isle of Wight Pearl.

Isle of Wight Pearl is said to have the largest collection of pearl jewellery in the
entire UK. They have all kinds of pearls - crafted, freshwater, akoya to name a few; and
in all price ranges.

We stopped there for an hour. Since our visit was in the Christmas week, the entire place
was done up in Christmas themed decor. There were polar bears holding long strands of
pearl strings and there was a christmas tree which was decorated with pearl.

Apart from the Pearl store, Isle of Wight Pearl also has
- Pearl cafe : a cafe which serves snacks, cakes and cream teas
- a chain store called Chilton where you can select chains on the reel,
- Bear works : where kids can chhose a bear and stuff it using a stuffing machine
- Island gems : where you can see and purchase a range of items like fossils, crystals and
other stones. I picked up an Onyx egg for £3 :)

IoW Pearl also has a replica of the famous pearl dress worn by Princess Diana. The lovely replica of the dress and the jacket are embroidered with numerous pearls which would have taken around six months to sew on. Phew!

IoW Pearl also has something called as - Pick a Pearl : where you can select your own
pearl. You can pick an oyster from the small pool and watch as it is opened and the
cultured pearl is revealed. You can take the pearl as is or get it placed in a setting of
your choice. A couple of young girls from our coach went ahead and "picked" a pearl for
themselves.
