The Arcido Faroe - Lightweight Travel Bag with Laptop Compartment

Whether it is a weekend away or a short holiday, Bhavin and I prefer to travel with just one piece of carry-on luggage each avoiding the hassle of checking in a large suitcase. We have been on a number of journeys over the years and along the way, we have worked on and optimised our travel and packing strategy. We like to travel light eliminating all unnecessary items from our luggage. And when one travels light, their best companion is their carry-on luggage!

I had seen the Arcido Faroe bag on Twitter and really liked its understated aesthetics. So when the opportunity arose to trial the Faroe, we were happy to do so. We took it on our trip to the Azores recently and it was perfect.

Made using a lightweight, durable and abrasion resistant Kodra fabric, the Faroe is a 35L cabin approved luggage that would be ideal for any traveller flying with any airline across the world. Listed below are 5 things that we loved about the Arcido Faroe.

Lightweight

When one prefers to travel light, the weight of the bag plays a very important role - every single gram counts. And weighing in at just 900 grams, the Faroe is lightweight enough to be carried around without much hassle even when it is fully packed. Because of its lightweight structure, it also allowed more room for our clothes and other items as compared to a heavier piece of luggage.

Another advantage of the lightweight design is easier storage at home.

Compartments

The Faroe has a large inner pocket which can be fully opened (like a suitcase) when laid flat thus giving easy access to everything. And you can fit a lot of stuff in there! We were able to pack a week's worth of clothes, wash kit, an umbrella, gadgets (tablet and phones), sundry snacks and some important documents. It also helped that we choose light, cotton-poly blends and folded and rolled the clothes.

However, the organisation of the Faroe bag really makes it worthwhile. In addition to the main compartment, it has a pull-tab laptop compartment that adjusts to fit the exact width of your computer. The pull-tab feature also makes it easy to take your laptop out at the airport security. Very handy!

One of the key features of a good carry-on bag is that it should allow you to easily access the most frequently used items. And Faroe delivers on that front as well. It has a pocket designed for passports and important documents located on the back of the bag. And there is another pocket (for keys, coins, ear plugs, sleep mask, mints etc.) built into the top of the bag. And finally, there are mesh pockets on the sides. So no more digging through deep pockets to find what you’re looking for.

Build quality

Arcido bags are made from the Kodra fabric which is lightweight but durable as well. The material is not thick but it is hardwearing in our opinion. You won't rip this bag easily. We have used it on our recent trip to the Azores and it has been great. The zippers are high-quality YKK zips (YKK are the world's largest zipper manufacturer) that open smoothly. The grab handle and straps are padded while there is an EVA foam backplate at the back.

Comfort

The EVA foam on the back and the padded straps feel really good and comfortable, giving the wearer a lot of comfort. No sagging that might cause back pain or any discomfort.

Style

Like I mentioned earlier, we liked the understated aesthetics of the Arcido Faroe. And the heather grey colour means that the bag blends well with almost everything and compliments most styles. It is a bag that can be used for formal business trips as well as for leisure holidays.

If I could have asked for anything it would have been to see the addition of a side handle. For people of a petite frame like myself, it is easier to hold the bag horizontally rather than vertically (with the top handle).

Other than that, the Arcido Faroe is a very well made bag. It feels made to last a very long time. The main draw for us has been the overall construction quality of this bag. Just by looking at and touching the bag you can tell it is durable and built to last.

Where can you get one?

Head over to Arcido's website and check out the Faroe (£120.00) and the original Arcido Bag (£149.00). Both bags have the same dimensions (55 x 35 x 20 cm / 22" x 9" x 14") and build quality. The difference between the two is that the Faroe has less padding and is lighter weight.
