The Globe, Warwick | Pub, Restaurant and Hotel

At the start of the month, we visited Warwick and stayed at The Globe. The Globe (a Grade II listed building) is a destination venue with a stylish bar, a restaurant, private dining rooms, and a 16-room hotel. Located between Warwick Castle and Market Place, The Globe is a lovely place to wine and dine while visiting Warwick. This was the first time we were staying in a pub but as we found out there was nothing to worry about.

Our en-suite room at The Globe was located in a separate building to the pub. It was a double room with amenities like tea & coffee making facilities, hairdryer, minibar, free WiFi, LCD TV with satellite channels, iron and ironing board and a portable air cooler (which was put to good use by us). The bed and bedding were fresh and clean, as was the bathroom which was stocked with toiletries from Noble Isle. Our room was at the front, overlooking the entrance to the pub and it being a weekend we were concerned about noise levels but there was no problem at all. We had a comfortable stay and enjoyed a good night's sleep.

The double room we stayed in was more of a compact room but perfect for the business traveller or a couple who are looking for a value weekend escape. If you are travelling with family or need more space then I would recommend going with the executive room which offers a four-poster bed and Jacuzzi bath.

We dined the first night in the restaurant which was sympathetically furnished and had comfortable seating options. The food was lovely - a very good selection for all courses. Our starters included Halloumi chips with a spicy tomato sauce and roasted red pepper and garlic hummus with artisan Italian Puccia bread. Yummy. For the mains both myself and Bhavin opted for Pasta. I choose Tortiglioni Primavera with courgettes, peas, tender stem broccoli, baby spinach, kale & pumpkin seed pesto while Bhavin picked the Tortiglioni E Funghi with Rosemary, white wine cream sauce, sautéed porcini, button & Portobello mushrooms. Both the dishes were well seasoned and filling. For desserts, it was Apple and Oat Crumble with Vanilla ice cream for him and a selection of ice cream for me. A lovely way to round off the meal!

The pub seemed to be quite busy in the evenings. The wine list was extensive - from moderately priced wine through to the expensive ones. There was also a nice selection of beers and other spirits.

Breakfast at The Globe is served until 12 pm and you are honestly spoilt for choice. Obviously, there is the full English which you'd expect (the vegetarian version was nice and filling) but there are also other options like Eggs Benedict, toasted Belgian waffle with banana, chocolate sauce & hazelnuts, Eggs Funghi with toasted English muffin, Portobello mushrooms, poached free-range eggs (highly recommended, I had this and it was very nice) and chopped Avocado & hot smoked Salmon - I could go on and on as there was lots more on the Breakfast menu.

The staff and the service were top rate - every staff member we interacted with was very pleasant and helpful. All of them seemed to enjoy doing their job. Nothing to fault with the service!

Overall, we had a lovely time at The Globe. If you are planning a quick weekend escape to Warwick or need somewhere to stay the night en-route, then The Globe is a very good option.
