Christmas lights in London - 2012

Come Christmas and London glitters and twinkles with beautiful Christmas light displays. Every market, every high street, all shops have their own special themed light displays. Some light displays have already been switched on and some will be this week. The lights switch-on are special events in themselves, with a large crowd gathering to take in the magic moment.


Here are some places where you can head to enjoy the Christmas lights.

Regent Street
Date: 13th November 2012 (switch on at 5:30pm) to 6th January 2013
Specials: Olympic 2012 gold medallist Greg Rutherford, the cast of West End musical Matilda.

Bond Street
Date: 29th November 2012
Specials: Stilt walkers, Carol singers and Reindeer :)

Carnaby Street
Date: 8th November 2012 to 6th January 2013
Theme: 50th anniversary of Rolling Stones

Covent Garden
Date: 7th November 2012 to 2nd January 2013
Specials: Reindeer petting, Christmas food market, apple market, London Gay Men's Chorus performances and Covent Garden's famous and classic 30 feet topiary reindeer

Trafalgar Square
Date: 6th December 2012 to 4th January 2013
Trafalgar Square hosts a number of attractions every Christmas. This year the Christmas Tree Ceremony is on 6th December at 6:00pm. The Menorah Lighting Ceremony will be on 10th December from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

Marylebone High Street
Date: 14th November 2012
Specials: Claudia Winkleman, fireworks, live music, Father Christmas Grotto and lots of street performers
