Love padlocks on the Pont des Arts bridge in Paris

Paris is a lovely city if we ignore the traffic and population. It was too crowded for my liking. However, I loved the architecture and the cultural beauty it had to offer. No wonder, it is one of the most visited cities in the world.

The river Siene is a long river running through the city of Paris. Would you believe if I said that within Paris itself there are 37 bridges spanning the Seine river. The one that I am writing about today is a pedestrian bridge called the Passerelle des Arts or Pont des Arts.

Due to its location (it connects the Palais du Louvre to the Institut de France), it has served many a times as a place for painters and artists to exhibit their work. It is also known for another reason though - its love padlocks. Love padlocks is a custom wherein couples in love attach padlocks to bridges, fences or any other public objects to denote their everlasting love. Every other country has some or the other bridge covered in padlocks :) Some people find it romantic and some as a nuisance.

Anyways, here are some pictures of the love padlocks from the Pont des Arts bridge. They range from tiny locks to large ones, plain brass ones to colourful ones and even some really fancy ones.
